Our Policies
Naturalization Exam Results
Each student enrolled in a U.S. Government course where credit is awarded for General, Core 40, Core 40 with Academic Honors, or Core 40 with Technical Honors designation is required to take the naturalization examination provided by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services as administered by the student’s high school. Each year, schools are required to report data surrounding the exam.

Title I Complaint Procedure
Metal Detector Policy
In light of the escalating school violence across our state and country, the Board authorizes the principal to develop and implement a security program that utilizes metal detectors on school property in order to protect the health, welfare, and safety of students, staff, parents and other visitors, and school property.
McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
Under the McKinney-Vento Act, State educational agencies (SEAs) must ensure that each homeless child and youth has equal access to the same free, appropriate public education, including a public preschool education, as other children and youths.
Seclusion and Restraint Policy
The purpose of this policy is to insure that all students and staff are safe in school, and that students who may have behavior crises are free from inappropriate use of seclusion or restraint.
Suicide Prevention Policy
Per IC 20-26-5-34.4, the purpose of this policy is to protect the health and well-being of all students by having procedures in place to prevent, assess the risk of, intervene in, and respond to suicide.
Wellness Policy
The Coordinated School Health Advisory Council of Indianapolis Metropolitan High School
supports the health and well-being of the school corporation’s students by promoting nutrition
and physical activity at all grade levels.
Internet/Acceptable Use Policy
In making decisions regarding student access to the Internet, The Indianapolis Metropolitan High School considers its own stated educational mission, goals, and objectives. Electronic information research skills are fundamental to preparation of citizens and future employees.
