Congratulations to seniors De’Janae Simpson and Christopher Pack on winning first place in Jobs for America’s Graduates Indiana Career Development Conference! Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a state-based national non-profit organization dedicated to empowering students to graduate from high school, pursue postsecondary education and secure quality entry-level jobs leading to career advancement opportunities.
“JAG is a unique opportunity for our students,” said Principal Lear. “Those who take part in the coursework acquire professional skills, job training knowledge and insight into future career options.”
The Career Development Conference in March provided JAG Indiana students an opportunity to learn from their peers and meet industry professionals. Competition categories included: career presentation, cover design, creative solutions, critical thinking, employability skills, entrepreneurship plan, public speaking, writing skills and the outstanding senior award.
David Young, Indy Met’s JAG instructor, was pleased to share news from the conference with staff members and students.
“The support of the Indy Met staff is incredible,” said Mr. Young. “They genuinely care about the success of their students, and that is why I am excited to partner with them throughout the year in the JAG program.”
De’Janae was awarded top scores in public speaking while Chris excelled in career presentation. Winners also met Indiana Governor Holcomb at the awards ceremony and celebrated amongst their peers from across the state. Way to go, Pumas!
